MURDER MOTEL VERSION 4.7 - SYSOP DOCUMENTATION

SETUP:

Unless you have never installed a Door on your
getting the program to run will be easy.
If this is your first door, please read on!

The file ('INACTIVE.CFG') should be edited to suit your needs
as well. Line #1 of this file is the DRIVE:path\filename.ext
of an ASCII (non color) bulletin that will be made, and line
#2 is that of an ANSI (color) bulletin.

A configuration file ('MURDER.CFG'), as well as the batch file
used the run the program ('MM4*. ') should be viewed, and
        edited to suit your needs.

                              CONFIGURATION FILE
                              ==================

The format of the configuration file used by Doors is:

C:\PCB\PCBOARD.SYS <- For PCBoard systems using PCBOARD.SYS only
C|\PCB\USERS.SYS <- For PCBoard systems using USERS.SYS
C:\BBS\CALLINFO.BBS <- For Wildcat! systems (prior to v3.0)
C:\BBS\DOOR.SYS <- For systems that support DOOR.SYS
C:\BBS\DORINFOx.DEF <- For QBBS/RBBS/RA. Replace x with Node #.
C:\BBS\SFDOORS.DAT <- For Spitfire systems.

Note only one of the above

x-soft Soft <- BBS name
Cool <- Sysop's first name
Sysop <- Sysop's last name

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the Murder Motel configuration file, using an ASCII editor, just edit
the first 10 lines to suit your needs. The format of each line follows:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Line 1 -- Full Drive:\path\filename.ext of door info file (see above)
Line 2 -- The name of your Bulletin Board System
Line 3 -- First name of SysOp
Line 4 -- Last name of SysOp
Line 5 -- Registration Number (0 if unregistered)
Line 6 -- Total number of moves allowed per day
Line 7 -- Total number of demerit points allowed per day
Line 8 -- Enforce wait a day after dying (0=no or 1=yes)

The following will be in future releases. The original author intended on
putting these option in but never did.

Line 9 -- Allow the use of handles (alias names) ? (0=no or 1=yes)
Line 10 - Allow being picked by more than one other player ? (0=no or 1=yes)

Some term packages are not acknowledging the test for ANSI. You may force
ANSI on by adding a commnad line switch /NA.

MMXX MURDER.CFG /NA

NOTE: This door supports COM 1-15 on the standard IRQ's - COM1/COM3 = IRQ4 and
COM2/COM4 = IRQ3. If you wish to use a non-standard IRQ, add the IRQ
number after the configuration filename. Let's assume your Door is
called FOOBAR and you want to use COM1 and IRQ5. The command line
passed to your Door would be:
        MM03 Murder.cfg /5
The /5 tells Door to use IRQ5 rather than the standard IRQ4 that
is normally used with COM1. No /x parameter is needed for the standard
      IRQ's.

To you who are still having troubles, ask a
neighboring SysOp to help, and good luck.

Much of the BBS software mentioned is a Trade Mark of its
respective author. The names are merely mentioned to help you
in your usage of this door.

USING THE DOOR:

Once configured, and setup as a door, Murder Motel does all the
work. The game play and its objective are contained in the file
MURDER.MMI (Murder Motel Information), which is made available
by the (I)nstructions command in the game.

All the files included (with the exception of .DOC) files should
reside in the door default directory, and shouldn't be messed
        with otherwise.

UPGRADE:

If you are upgrading from a previous version (1.0, 1.2, or 2.0)
you must start completely fresh; erase all old murder files,
docs, and .mmi files, then setup the new one. (running MAKENEW
is a good idea after all is configured).
